Why You See No Cookie Banners Here
We believe digital privacy should be a default right, not an annoying pop-up banner. Because we engineered this website using Privacy by Design principles, this platform does not use third-party cookies, tracking pixels, or behavioral analytics.
Under Article 5(3) of the EU ePrivacy Directive, a website is entirely exempt from displaying a consent banner if it only uses tools that are strictly necessary to deliver the core service. To maintain your connection, we use exactly one technical tool:
- A Single First-Party Session Cookie: This is a transient, short-lived identifier that temporarily binds your browser connection to our web server. It prevents the website from dropping your connection or crashing while you click through pages. It is destroyed automatically the moment you close your browser tab.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
What We Do Differently:
To show you exactly how deeply we care about your security and data sovereignty, our system architecture actively avoids standard industry practices that compromise privacy:
- No Persistent Storage: We do not store your language, regional preferences, or display choices in local tracking files. Everything is handled temporarily on our internal server for the duration of your active visit.
- No Access Tokens in Cookies or URLs: For authenticated users, we never pass or cache long-lived access tokens inside browser cookies or append them as visible parameters in your address bar (URL). This completely eliminates the threat of URL leakage or session-hijacking.
- No Shared Identity Providers: We do not use external Big Tech login scripts or third-party analytical graphs. Your digital handshake remains entirely confidential between your device and our server.
- No IP Tracking: We do not monitor, log, or track your static IP address to profile your physical movements or build marketing dossiers.
By intentionally stripping away unnecessary client-side tracking scripts, we maximize page loading speed, eliminate single points of site failure, and guarantee that your browsing data remains entirely your own.
Media
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
You can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
